Junaid Baghdadi
Sayyedut Taifa Hazrat Junaid Baghdadi Rahmatullah Alaih was the Iraqi Sufi Saint who is credited to be the founder of Junaidi Silsila. He was the disciple of Hazrat Sirri Saqti Rahmatullah Alaih and the follower of Shafai School of Jurisprudence.

Name
Junaid in his name means warrior. His forefathers had migrated from Nahawand, Iran and settled in Baghdad. So Baghdadi in his name means (inhabitant of Baghdad). His actual name was Abul Qasim.
Life and Career
He was born in 218 Hijri or 830 A.D in Iraq and received the initial education there. He performed Hajj at the age of 7, along with Hazrat Sirri Saqti Rahmatullah Alaih. In his journey to Hajj, he was succeeded in receiving the Faizan of nearly 400 Sufi Saints. He issued first fatwa of his life at 20 after learning Islamic Sciences from nearly 200 teachers.
Teaching
The true Sufi is the one who follows Allah and his prophet (peace be upon him) in such a way that he holds (here: mastered) the Quran in one hand and Hadees in another.
He emphasized on the teachings of Tawheed and Purification of Nafs in his life time. According to him, Nafs is a more dangerous enemy of a man than devil.
One should befriend those who do the good deeds and forget.
Prophet ﷺ in the dream of Junaid
The incident of meeting of Junaid Baghdadi Rahmatullah with Prophet ﷺ in the dream has been widely discussed by the subject experts including Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh. According to them, Hazrat Sirri Saqti always use to tell Junaid to do Takrir (speech) but every time he used to reply that, "I am your student and how can I deliver an Islamic speech in your presence". One day Prophet ﷺ visited Junaid in his dream and ordered Junayd to deliver Islamic speeches. To which Junaid replied, "Huzoor, I will definitely deliver Islamic speeches from now". After awakening from the dream, he went to his Murshid and perform the prayer behind him. After completion of the prayer, Hazrat Sirri Saqti Rahmatullah Alaih asked Junaid, "will you deliver your Islamic speeches now"? To which Junaid exclaimed, how the Murshid came to know about his dream and his future plans. To which Murshid replied, it was me who yesterday pray to Allah to send Prophet ﷺ in your dream to order you to start delivering Islamic speeches.
Wisal
At the time of his Wisal, After recitation of Holy Quran, he asked Abu Muhammad to prepare food for his companions and distribute among them. He further did the ablution and recited 70 Aayats of Surah Baqarah and later continued the zikr on his fingertips. He raised his forefinger (Shahadah) and went to Sujood by reciting بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم and received the Wisal in the very same conditions. He received Wisal on Friday 27 Rajab, 297 Hijri/ 1910 A. D. His Mazar is in the neighborhood of his Pir Hazrat Sirri Saqti Rahmatullah Alaih in Iraq. He has many notable khulafas including Hazrat Abubakar Shibli Rahmatullah Alaih, who further continued the Junaidi Silsila after his Wisal.
