Distribution of Langar and "Sabir"
The incident of distribution of Langar has been mentioned by most of the experts, which says, as Sabir Piya and his mother came to Baba Farid, his mother accompanied him there for 2 years, while taking leave from his son, she educates Baba Farid about Sabir Piya that, “my son Sabir never demand for anything, even for necessities such as food, so brother, you have take care of my son’s needs” to which Baba Farid agreed and make sabir Piya the in-charge of Langar Khana to distribute foods to the students and others so that there will be no question of demanding food as he has now become the in-charge of kitchen. But because of his taqwa, Saint focused on his duty as an in-charge of the kitchen to distribute the foods instead of even having the single morsel of food from the kitchen for 12 years. Various experts have commented, he was surviving on herbs and fruits from the forest on those days. When his mother came back after almost a decade to meet her son, she observed her son has become very weak, after seeing this condition of her son, she went to his brother Baba Fareed to enquired the cause of such a pathetic condition of her son, she enquired, didn’t you took care of my son’s diet, to which Baba said, “The entire administration of kitchen was in your son’s hand”. to which Sabir said, “yes although I was the administrator of your kitchen but you didn’t tell me to have food from there, so I had never taken food from that kitchen, instead of it when I felt hunger, I used to consume certain fruits and herbs from forest”. After hearing this, Baba Farid give him the title “Sabir or the man of patience”.
